Hyeon's never quite known the word home or family. Ever since they can recall, they've been on their own. Ironically, as a black cat, they grew up learning the ways of the street. It didn't matter if it was Hell or Earth, Hyeon learned to navigate both realms mostly on their own. Much of their youth was spent in South Korea before they started to wander to other countries.They resulted to petty theft, pick pocketing, and free loading as a cat. Hyeon would lounge in different homes, most of them happy to feed a cute cat. Though, they never remained long enough to be collared. As soon as they were twenty-one, they picked up part-time bartending jobs, enjoying the conversation and mixing drinks.The closest they've gotten to home is with their previous mage. Hyeon stole from the wrong (or right) person and ended up in a binding circle. The mage, Keito, offered to cook Hyeon a meal instead of turning them in. Keito and Hyeon became ride or die best friends, a bonded pair. Hyeon, learned much about the other supernaturals from words on the street until Keito. They helped each other learn and it truly felt like them against the world. Hyeon finally found a home.Then Keito dies.One stupid fight. One night when Hyeon should've stopped Keito from going out. One last goodbye. Hyeon feels the life drain from their mage, the promise of facing the world together, and something deep in their soul fracturing. There's something sickening about feeling your loved one's heart fade. Hyeon bared the weight of two heartbreaks that night.So, Hyeon runs. Runs far from the apartment they'd settled down into. They run far, the one thing they've been good at. It's not until years after coming to terms with the loss, Hyeon finds Keito's old letter that leads them to Crescent Cove.

Hyeon owns JINXED, having purchased and renovated what used to be an old speak easy. It's named after the alleged "bad luck" that comes with black cats and thought it was funny. They originally planned to open a bar with their mage, where Keito would cook and Hyeon would bartend.They spend a few evenings each week at the bar, chatting with regulars and testing out new cocktails. They're probably taking a nap during the day, lounging on a rooftop, or striking drum sticks.They don't talk about their past much. They have melancholic days wondering about the parents they never had or their lost loved ones. But, Hyeon's worked hard to get to a good place where they can enjoy each day as it arrives.
